Home»Bates Family Cine Films

After I was born in 1954 my father, Ernest Bates (Ernie), acquired a Zeiss 8mm cine camera to record some of the family events and holidays throughout the late 1950's and early 1960's.
After his death in October 1966 several other members of the close family, including myself and my brothers Norman and David, continued to record family occasions.
I shot the last clip on a Royal Grammar School, Guildford Mediterranean school cruise.
All the clips have been taken from a bulk transfer of the original film stock to DVD.

Note: Although most of the clips are in chronological order there may be some that are out of sequence due to mistakes in the original transfer to DVD.
